Starting your nursing career is a big step. Advocate Health’s New Graduate Registered Nurse Residency Program gives you the structure, support and hands-on experience you need to grow with confidence – starting on day one.

New Grad RN Residency Overview
Advocate Health’s New Graduate Nurse Residency Program offers newly licensed registered nurses a supported, evidence-based transition from school to professional practice.
You’ll train alongside experienced preceptors while participating in specialty-focused education and a structured core curriculum. As a result, you’ll strengthen clinical judgment, communication, teamwork and time management – skills that matter in every care setting.
Just as important, you’ll build confidence, connection and resilience as you begin your nursing journey.
Eligibility
You’re eligible if you meet the following criteria:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program before the program start date
- Six months or less of RN experience at program start
- Active RN license in the program state
- Preferred: Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Length
- Six sessions
- Two hours per session
- Completed over six months
Delivery
This residency uses a blended learning model. You’ll participate in live, instructor-led virtual sessions, along with self-paced learning modules that fit your schedule.
Accreditation
Our Charlotte, Illinois and Wisconsin Nurse Residency Programs are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) through the Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP).
Programs in our other regions are actively progressing through the accreditation process.

Wisconsin Newly Licensed RN Best Fit Program
The Best Fit Program is designed to provide newly licensed Registered Nurses with immersive experiences across three inpatient specialty units. This structured, three-month orientation allows participants to explore multiple practice areas before selecting a permanent unit. Units selected based on areas or interest and strengths. Please note: rotations do not include ICU, Emergency Department, Operating Room, or Women’s Health specialties.
